Painted Flowers (53cm x 115cm)

I once heard that painting flowers is very cheesy.
What nonsense.
And what does it matter if it is?

I paint flowers because they are life.
There are no flowers in wars.
And none on the surface of the Moon either.

I paint flowers because they are love.
The bouquet at the hospital door.
The roses for that anniversary.
The wreath that says goodbye with an "I will always love you."

I paint flowers because they are colors.
Explosions that shout to the insects: here I am,
ready to multiply.

I paint flowers because they remind us of the journey.
Eighty springs, if we are lucky.

Perhaps if more people painted, planted, sold, gave away flowers,
we would take better care of home.

Perhaps if we were all a little cheesier.
We wouldn't be wielding weapons.
