Happy moment

When I was a little girl and my mom would take me for a walk in Parque del Este, what I liked most, besides the monkeys, was running into a peacock.

I was mesmerized watching them fan out their tails and show me their feathers. Time stood still while I admired their colors and the way the light reflected off them.

Turquoise. Green. Yellow. Purple. Violet. Orange. Gold.

A celebration.

A happy moment, suspended in my memory.

And here, I lived it all over again.
