This is my grandparents' wedding.
I wanted to paint it so badly...
In my head, the scene was perfect:
a clear day in the countryside,
a simple, beautiful table.
But when I started, something didn't fit.
I felt that what was coming from my hands
was clumsy, detached, soulless.
So I set it aside, and started over.
This time I wanted to do it differently.
And abandoning the technicalities,
I started with the details.
And that is how the image took shape,
just the way I wanted it.
This photo reminded me that it doesn't matter if it doesn't work out the first time.
That failures are not ends, but doors.
And that you can always start over.
Just like my grandmother did.
Who, even though her love story didn't have the ideal ending,
started again.
She had the courage to do so.
And since life is all about that:
about erasing with tenderness,
about redrawing,
about rewriting stories...
I wanted to give them another scene.
From love and memory,
A new beginning.
This time with more celebration and more color.
